Welcome to Season 4 of Together in Song!

singers_screenshotWGBY-TV, Public Television for western New England, is pleased to bring you the fourth season of Together in Song, a celebration of our region’s rich choral tradition. The area’s top choral groups–more than 1,000 performers–have competed in five categories over the past several weeks. The finalists in each category along with our 2 top vote getters as determined by you, the viewers, are listed below.

Congratulations to our finalists:

Elementary/Middle School: Hampshire Young People’s Chorus Chamber Singers
High School: Amherst Regional High School Chorale
College: The Smithereens
Adult: Non-Classical: Chill Harmonics
Adult: Classical: Schola Nova
Voters’ Favorite: Kurn Hattin Homes  Select Choir
Voters’ Favorite: Strike a Chord!

These 7 choral groups will now advance to our Together in Song Regional Choral Awards, to be broadcast LIVE on Sunday, April 27th! This season is made possible through the generous support of the MassMutual Financial Group, the Community Foundation of Western MA from the Raymond E. and Mildred G. Clark Foundation, and viewers like you.

The judging was particularly close this year.  In 2 of our 5 categories the judges reached a tie.  Throughout the past several weeks our viewers have been picking their favorites by voting here on our web site.  Their votes broke the ties and determined the 2 additional groups who are joining the category winners in our Live Regional Choral Awards coming up on Kevin 1Sunday, April 27th.

Don’t miss our very special LIVE Broadcast of the Together in Song Regional Choral Awards with our hosts Kevin Rhodes, Conductor & Director of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Russell J. Peotter, WGBY General Manager, and Zydalis Zayas, WGBY Senior Community Engagement Associate.  They’ll be joined by a special panel of 3 judges who along with your votes during the live broadcast will determine this year’s overall winner of Together in Song who will receive their own special half-hour program on WGBY.

Please continue to join the conversation on Twitter using #TISonWGBY and on our Facebook page.

The support of our viewers has helped bring the performances of thousands of local singers into your homes over the last three seasons of Together in Song. Please consider making a gift to Together in Song to help continue to make that possible
