“Mt Greylock High School Choir has been under the direction of Kate Caton for the last two years. The High School Choir have participated in service projects throughout its history and most recently, a part of the John Denver project last spring. This is Mt Greylock’s first submission for a festival in the school’s recent history.”

About the Director  Kate Caton  received her Bachelor’s in Music Education from Fredonia State and her Masters in Arts Education from Stony Brook University. She extended her choral studies in conducting with  Peter Perret, Richard Shiel, Harry John Brown  and  with Paul Leddington Wright at The Royal School of Church Music in the UK. She hold certification in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire in Music and Theatre Educaton.  As conductor, she directed her Bayport UMC Chancel Choir to present at The International Church Festival in Bern, Switzerland and toured with her school choirs to various festivals within the US.  Also a multi-dimensional solo performer, she has performed various genres of music, from opera and jazz to contemporary. As a vocalist, Ms Caton recorded and performed concerts for kids for MZA Records; traveling and performing in community centers, schools, and museums throughout the east coast. Ms Caton also had the distinct pleasure of performing for The Queen of England while studying at The Royal School in Croyden, UK.   Ms Caton continues to be an active All State vocal adjudicator for NYSSMA. She has been  invited  as guest conductor for the Westfield Chamber Choir Concert and for Chautauqua  Institute’s All County Festival and has served as  Choral Director for a variety of worship house and community organizations within the tri state NY area.  Kate now resides in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and lends her expertise as  both Choral and Theatre Instructor at Mt Greylock Regional High School. She extends her expertise as an educator and innovator by working on building unity in community initiatives that hold the performing arts at its core.  Last year’s 'John Denver Arts and Awareness project' was her first major endeavor for the Mt Greylock community.  Her present  community  projects  include extending  her  direction  in North Adams and  Williamstown, which  includes teaching preschool music at  Williams College's Children’s Center. She is also involed in  coordinating for The Tri District Choral Festival for 2014, as well as building day to day, a varied and valued performing arts  program for the Tri District community.

    This non select choir at Mt Greylock is open to any 9- 12 grade student that likes to sing.
