The Pioneer Valley Chordsmen, a local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, is a non-profit organization of men singing four-part harmony. The Chordsmen were pleased to win the Barbershop category in 2013’s Together In Song. Veterans of district and regional barbershop competitions for over 30 years, the Chordsmen hosted a regional barbershop convention in 2011 and proudly returned to competition in 2012 after a three-year hiatus. Members come from across western Massachusetts. The Chordsmen perform throughout the year, both in quartets and as a chorus, at schools, restaurants, civic and community events, nursing homes, libraries, and ball games around the region.

About the Director

Dan Inglis has proudly conducted the Chordsmen since 2009. As the only Certified Master Teacher of Estill Voice Training in western New England, Dan maintains a busy private studio whose students are active in performance throughout the valley. He also conducts two choirs at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Northampton and frequently appears as a guest conductor. Dan can be heard weekly as a cantor, and he appeared in 2012 as tenor soloist with the Cornucopia Consort in their Messiah. Licensed in music education at UMass Amherst and educated at Hampshire College, Dan wrote his thesis on the nature and acquisition of musical ability.
